Josef Martinez may have put himself in position to break one of MLS' longstanding records last Sunday, but the Atlanta United star fell just short of taking AT&T Goal of the Week honors for Week 25.
Albert Rusnak just edged out Martinez with 49% of the vote for his thunderbolt of a stoppage-time equalizer in Real Salt Lake's improbable 2-1 comeback win at the Houston Dynamo. Martinez finished second with 47% choosing his silky strike and record-tying 27th goal of the season.
In order distantly behind them were Ilsinho's late goal for the Philadelphia Union (3%), Lee Nguyen's early-second-half tally for LAFC (1%), and Ashley Cole's opener for the LA Galaxy (0%).
Check out the final Week 25 voting results and video of all five goals.
