The San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake both had chances to take a second-half lead, but neither team could put in a goal in Saturday night's scoreless draw at Avaya Stadium.
Goalkeepers Andrew Tarbell of the Earthquakes and Nick Rimando of Real Salt Lake came up with key saves to keep the game scoreless, each ending up with three stops.
San Jose's winless streak reached 12 matches despite their ending a three-game losing streak. RSL are 9-9-4 but still have just one win on the road in 11 away games this season.
Real Salt Lake lost midfielder Albert Rusnak and his five goals and six assists to what looked like a neck injury just a few minutes into the game. RSL were already without head coach Mike Petke, who served the second of a two-game suspension.
The Earthquakes, at 2-12-7, have the league's lowest point total at 13.
