The results are in, and LAFC forward Carlos Vela has been voted captain of the All-Star Team for the 2018 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target.
The Mexican international won the online poll, conducted on Twitter over the past several days with the hashtag #VoteVela. The other candidates for the captaincy were Atlanta United defender Michael Parkhurst, New York Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips, and Portland Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri.
Vela was selected to the 2018 MLS All-Star Game as the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 "More Than A Vote" winner, racking up the most goals among MLS players from the game to gain selection on the Fan XI.
Vela has seven goals and five assists in 14 MLS regular season appearances this season, helping LAFC to a current second-place spot in the Western Conference.
