What will the new name be for Miami’s MLS expansion team?
In an interview with The Miami Herald, Jorge Mas, a partner in the David Beckham-fronted ownership group, said the wait to find out will be over “very soon,” adding that the announcement itself for the team name will be “really cool.”
The newspaper cited sources that Atletico Miami and Inter Miami had been the top two choices. Mas said he believes the name will be “well-received.”
“The fans picked the name,” he said in the interview. “This is the fans’ team. It’s a great name and the way we’re going to unveil the name is very different from any unveiling of a name.”
Mas, David Beckham’s partner, said the team may also soon announce the shield, team colors and a general manager, who is expected to be named by the end of the month.
