The New York Red Bulls announced on Sunday that midfielder Florian Valot, a surprise standout this season, suffered an ACL tear in his left knee during training on Thursday and will miss the remainder of the MLS season.
The Frenchman scored three goals and five assists in 14 games (13 starts) in league play this year after earning promotion from NYRB II, the club’s USL side, in December.
A product of Rider University, Valot, 25, will undergo surgery in the coming weeks.
