After traveling from Spain to meet with Atlanta United club officials, Cameroonian midfielder Stephane Mbia will not be joining the club to fill a need in their defensive midfield, according to Twitter account AllezLesLions.
The account, which reports on Cameroonian players around the globe, says the two sides were unable to come to terms on a contract, even though he visited Atlanta and reportedly attended their 5-0 victory over LAFC on April 7.
Mbia continues to be a guest in training for La Liga side Sevilla, according to AllezLesLions.
Mbia would've slid into an obvious position of need as a No. 6 after Atlanta parted ways with Chilean midfielder Carlos Carmona.
With the apparent impasse, Atlanta remains a team that could feel some urgency ahead of the close of the MLS Primary Transfer Window on May 1.
