The eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation got its first champion on Sunday afternoon as Kid M3Mito (aka Guillermo 'Memo' Treviño), representing the Houston Dynamo, took home the trophy after a thrilling two-legged final.
Kid M3Mito beat out LyesMTL (aka Lyes Ould-Ramoul), representing the Montreal Impact, 6-4 in their two-legged final. LyesMTL scored first in the opening leg and nearly had the victory, only to concede an equalizing goal deep into stoppage time in a 2-2 draw. After Kid M3Mito took a lead in the first half of the second leg, the two players traded a flurry of second-half goals that would eventually see the Houston rep win the game 4-2 and secure the aggregate victory.
KidM3Mito, a 21-year-old Houston native, went undefeated through 21 tournament matches and tallied 94 goals in front of the crowd at the PAX Arena Main Stage at the gaming festival, PAX East.
Sunday's eMLS Cup final was the cap on four days of FIFA 18 action contested by gamers representing 19 different MLS clubs. Both Kid M3Mito and Lyes MTL qualified to represent their teams at the EA Sports FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs, which culminate in the FIFA eMLS World Cup in August. New York City FC's didychrislito (Chris Holly), who previously qualified for the Global Series Playoffs in January, defeated FC Dallas' AlanAvi (Alan Avila), 5-3, in the third-place match.
