TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Minnesota United could soon announce Club América attacker Darwin Quintero as the splashiest signing in their brief history, Jeff Reuter of The Athletic reported on Sunday.
The comes a couple weeks after MLSsoccer.com's Paul Tenorio reported that the Loons had gone to Panama to scout Quintero as he played in the Concacaf Champions League.
The 30-year-old Colombian winner was a standout over six seasons with Liga MX side Santos Laguna, scoring 66 league goals there between 2008 and 2014. He also hit 12 league goals across the 2015-2016 season in Mexico with América, but has not produced as often recently.
Nicknamed "the scientist of the goal" after his namesake, 19th-century scientist Charles Darwin, Quintero has also been called up by Colombia 14 times at senior level.
