It was an historic goal, the first in the history of the Los Angeles Football Club, and it earned the expansion side their first-ever MLS victory on Sunday, a 1-0 road upset of the Seattle Sounders.
Now Diego Rossi's game-winner has won the inaugural edition of the 2018 AT&T Goal of the Week race, cruising to victory with 43 percent of the vote, well ahead of fellow contenders Kei Kamara (20%), Danny Hoesen (16%), Stefano Pinho (13%) and Federico Higuain (8%).
The 20-year-old Uruguayan's finish was not only a landmark occasion on paper, but also a clinically-taken strike, a first-time curler beyond the reach of goalkeeper Stefan Frei after a well-weighted pass from Carlos Vela.
