The San Jose Earthquakes beefed up their roster heading into opening weekend by signing two of their second-round draft picks, forwards Danny Musovski and Mohamed Thiaw, on Thursday afternoon.
The Quakes also announced that discussions with the league regarding first-round pick Paul Marie's eligibility as a domestic player are ongoing.
"We felt very fortunate to be able to select both Danny and Mo at the MLS SuperDraft," said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. "Both players earned contracts with their impressive play this preseason and we believe in their growth potential as professionals."
Musovski, 22, was selected 30th overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was a four-year starter and two-time All-America selection for the Runnin' Rebels and scored 15 goals and six assists over 16 games in his senior season.
Thiaw, 23, was the 35th overall pick in January's draft out of the University of Louisville. He scored 61 goals over four seasons with Louisville and Cincinnati State, adding 20 assists. He was a two-time All-America selection and the 2015 Junior College Player of the Year.
