Ola Kamara believes signs of improvement already there for LA Galaxy

Ola Kamara knows not to take too much stock in what the scoreboard shows at the end of preseason matches.

Even so, the new LA Galaxy striker told lagalaxy.com that their 3-0 friendly win over New York City FC on Saturday should hearten fans hoping for an LA rebound in 2018.

"We're getting fit," Kamara said. "I think people saw that. And this season is going to be different."

Of course, Kamara wasn't part of the side that careened to a last-place finish in the Western Conference last season. But he appears to be fitting in well so far after coming to LA in a trade from Columbus Crew SC, scoring the opener in Saturday night's win.

That said, strikers are a superstitious bunch. And Kamara quickly noted how preseason and regular season form have not always matched in the past.

"I haven’t scored a goal in preseason the last three years, so I don’t know if it’s positive to score now or not," he said. "But the fitness is good and it’s always a good feeling scoring goals. I love that."
