TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
The Chicago Fire have rekindled their interest in Colombian attacker Juan Quintero, according to a report from The Athletic’s Guillermo Rivera.
The Fire were linked with Quintero during the summer transfer window, but weren’t able to get a deal done. They’re apparently still interested in the 24-year-old, however, with Rivera reporting that Quintero and his agent met with the Fire in Chicago on Wednesday.
Quintero has been with Portuguese club Porto since 2013, but spent the 2015-16 season on loan to French club Rennes and spent 2017 on loan to Colombian side Independiente Medellin. He excelled with Independiente, recording 13 goals in 25 appearances for the club.
His loan to Independiente recently ended. It’d been reported that La Liga club Sevilla were interested in acquiring him in January, but their interest has reportedly waned as they reportedly pursued Wesley Sneijder instead.
A member of Colombia’s squad at the 2014 World Cup, Quintero has 13 career caps for Los Cafeteros.
