TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
New Earthquakes manager Mikael Stahre is reportedly aiming to bring a player from his native Sweden to San Jose.
According to Swedish outlet Expressen, the Quakes are interested in signing 27-year-old Swedish striker Magnus Eriksson from Djurgardens IF.
Eriksson finished 2017 as the co-leading scorer in the Allsvenskan with 14 goals. He didn’t score against Stahre’s previous club Hacken, but did add seven assists in his 29 league appearances. Eriksson joined Djurgardens in 2016 following previous stints at Danish club Brondby, Chinese side Beijing Renhe, Swedish club Malmo and Belgian club Gent.
According to Expressen, San Jose have contacted Eriksson’s agent about a potential move, but have not yet made a formal offer to Djurgardens. The club reportedly value Eriksson at a transfer fee of $1.8 million.
San Jose, who announced the hiring of Stahre last week, revealed on Monday that they did not renew the contract of forward Danny Hoesen.
