TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Roster update
Forward Kenwyne Jones and defender Tyrone Mears are among seven players whose club options were not exercised by Atlanta United on Monday.
The 33-year-old Jones, a longtime Trinidad and Tobago international, had two goals in 17 league appearances (five starts) for the Five Stripes in 2017. and had announced his retirement from the sport earlier on Monday:
The 34-year-old Mears, a mainstay of Seattle's run to the 2016 MLS Cup title, made 20 appearances with 16 starts for Atlanta in 2017 with one goal and one assist.
The club also declined options on goalkeeper Alex Tambakis, defenders Mark Bloom and Zach Loyd, midfielder Harrison Heath and forward Jeffrey Otoo. Goalkeeper Kyler Reynish and defender Bobby Boswell are out of contract.
Contract options were exercised for goalkeeper Alec Kann, defender Mikey Ambrose, midfielders Julian Gressel and Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu and forward Romario Williams.
