TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
ESPN's Jeff Carlisle reported on Wednesday that Clint Dempsey will be returning to the Seattle Sounders in 2018 after agreeing to a new deal.
The report claims that Dempsey, 34, will sign a one-year contract with the Sounders. He is out of contract at the end of the current season, but the team holds an option, with the new deal replacing the previous one.
Dempsey joined Seattle from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013. In 101 MLS regular season games with the Sounders, Dempsey has scored 46 goals, with his 12 this year second-best of any of his seasons in MLS.
On Wednesday, the USMNT stalwart was also named 2017 MLS Comeback Player of the Year, after returning from a heart condition which sidelined him for the final months of the 2016 campaign, which included the Sounders' run to their first MLS Cup.
