Minnesota United FC are reportedly scouting in Africa, but reports that they are in talks with a potential acquisition may not be accurate.
Ghanaian soccer website GhanaSoccernet.com on Friday reported that midfielder Thomas Abbey was in "advanced talks" with the MLS club. However, the St. Paul Pioneer Press' Andy Greder tweeted on Friday that Minnesota were not in negotiations with Abbey, though the team had been scouting Africa recently.
The 23-year-old Abbey is currently the captain of famed Ghanaian club Hearts of Oak SC, and is also a Ghana international, having helped lead his country to the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations title in September. The tournament was a regional West African competition, and Abbey was named to the tournament's Best XI as a defender.
