Real Salt Lake announced on Tuesday night that they have transferred goalkeeper Lalo Fernandez to Liga MX club Tigres UANL.
Fernandez, 24, was a member of the RSL academy’s first graduating class in 2011 and signed with the club as a Homegrown Player in January 2012. He never made an MLS appearance for Salt Lake, but did play 50 times on-loan to Real Monarchs SLC in the USL over the last three seasons.
"We are extremely proud of the way Lalo has progressed during his time at RSL and we are excited for him to have an opportunity to continue to play games and grow at a club like Tigres," RSL GM Craig Waibel said in a statement released by the club. "He has been a professional in every sense of the word and we hope he can come back to RSL at some point in the future."
RSL will return to action on Saturday, when they’ll take on the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place (10 pm ET; MLS LIVE in the US | TSN in Canada).
