Make it three wins in a row for D.C. United. All by the same scoreline, too.
D.C. United grabbed a third straight victory on Saturday by defeating the New England Revolution, 1-0, at RFK Stadium on Saturday night. The decisive goal came from Luciano Acosta in the 71st minute when he finished off a nice little sequence with a close-range effort.
The 1-0 win is identical to the two triumphs D.C. enjoyed during the past week. The club beat Atlanta United by the same mark on Wednesday, and topped the Colorado Rapids with just one goal days earlier.

- SUPER SAM: While Acosta will get the plaudits for his winning tally, super sub Lloyd Sam deserves some credit, too. Sam helped change the game in D.C.'s favor after coming off the bench in the 68th minute. He gave D.C. United a more dangerous attacking threat in the final third, and it is no coincidence that they started to send in waves of attacks after his insertion. He also helped set up Acosta's winner with a nice ball clipped into the penalty area, so there's that as well.
- MISSING IN ACTION: The Revolution may have been without Lee Nguyen and Kelyn Rowe, but still had some very formidable weapons on the field with the likes of Juan Agudelo, Kei Kamara, Diego Fagundez, and Teal Bunbury all starting. You would have been hard-pressed to guess that, however, given how poor New England were in the final third. The Revolution finished with four shots on target, but the bulk of those came late and were more tame than dangerous. All in all, it was a night to forget for the New England attack.
- THRICE IS NICE: For the first time since last September, D.C. United have won three consecutive matches. The recent good run of form is unlikely to have them contending for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but it could help D.C. move out of the basement and build confidence ahead of a 2018 season that will come with loftier expectations.
