Three Things

  • UNION BUSTER: Blerim Dzemaili hasn’t scored a lot of goals since arriving from Bologna on May 9, but the Swiss international has enjoyed quite a bit of success against Philadelphia. The midfielder has scored half of his six goals against the Union, striking in a 2-1 home win on July 19.

  • MAKING AN IMPACT: It was a solid debut for Samuel Piette, who was a rock in the center of midfield for the visitors. The midfielder who transferred from CD Izarra in Spain’s third division just nine days ago had 60 successful passes and won six tackles in a 90-minute performance.

  • WE WILL GET BY
: It was an emotional start of the game for the Union and their fans as a moment of silence was held in memory of Kenny Hanson, the former Sons of Ben president who died this week after irreversible brain damage following a tragic accident last weekend. The Sons of Ben dedicated their tifo to Hanson, while the club played the Grateful Dead’s “Touch of Gray” in his honor. Alejandro Bedoya also wore a captain’s armband with ‘KH’ on it.
