Montreal Impact midfielder Ignacio Piatti voted Alcatel MLS Player of the Month
NEW YORK

– Montreal Impact midfielder Ignacio Piatti was voted the Alcatel MLS Player of the Month by members of the media for the month of August of the 2017 Major League Soccer season.
The Argentine scored seven goals and added one assist in August, leading the Impact to an impressive 4-1-0 record in the month while scoring a goal in every match. Piatti is tied for fourth in the Golden Boot race with 15 goals. Montreal sits seventh in the Eastern Conference standings (36 points, 10-9-6 overall record) and trail Atlanta United by goal difference for the final spot above the playoff line.
Piatti began the month with a penalty kick goal in the 48

minute of the Impact’s 2-1 victory over Orlando City SC on August 5 at Stade Saputo (

). The following week, Piatti continued his scoring ways with a goal in Montreal’s 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on August 12. Piatti scored a goal from the penalty spot in the 90

minute to extend the Impact lead to 2-0 (

minute after taking on two defenders and cutting the ball back to teammate Blerim DĹľemaili (

The veteran midfielder scored a brace in a 3-0 victory over Chicago Fire on July 16, putting the Impact on the board in the sixth minute with a cheeky chip over goalkeeper Matt Lampson (

Piatti capped his month with a brace in Montreal’s 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake on August 19, opening the match with a first time finish past goalkeeper Nick Rimando in the 11
