Montreal Impact supporters move North Star bell to Olympic Stadium

Montreal Impact - North Star bell

The Montreal Impact will not be playing in their usual stadium on Tuesday, but they are hoping they will here some familiar sounds at Olympic Stadium.

1642MTL, a Montreal supporters group, moved their bell dubbed "North Star" on Thursday to Olympic Stadium from Stade Saputo ahead of the Impact's Conference Championship clash with Toronto FC (8 pm ET; ESPN in US | TSN1/3, RDS in Canada).

The North Star is rung after each Montreal Impact goal, a tradition that was started by the supporters group last season.

"Since the installation of the North Star bell, Montreal Impact goal celebrations have changed forever," said Anthony Lizzi, founder of 1642MTL in a statement.

The bell has been rung by various local celebrities throughout the past year and that will be no different on Tuesday as former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal will be the honorary bell-ringer. Pascal, who was born in Haiti, moved to the Montreal area when he was four years old.
