Six years after David Ferreira was named MLS MVP, his son, Jesus, has signed with his former club.
FC Dallas announced on Thursday that they’ve signed 15-year-old forward Jesus Ferreira to a Homegrown contract. A member of the US Under-17 national team, Ferreira first joined the FCD academy at age eight, when his father signed with the club in February 2009.
Ferreira is the 16th Homegrown signing in FC Dallas history. He was a key part of the FCD Under-16 team that won the 2015-16 US Soccer Development Academy championship, helping the squad to a 23-2-0 regular season record before they blitzed through the playoffs to win the national title. The 5-foot-8 forward scored 48 goals in 50 career starts in USSDA play with FC Dallas.
David Ferreira played with Dallas from 2009-2013, recording 24 goals and 39 assists in 113 regular-season appearances with the club. He won the MLS MVP award in 2010 after an eight-goal, 13-assist campaign.
