Gio’s back, Mexico fans.
LA Galaxy star Giovani dos Santos was named on Thursday to Mexico’s roster for their upcoming friendlies against New Zealand and Panama, their final two games before opening the Hexagonal against the US in Columbus on Nov. 11.
Mexico will take on New Zealand at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Oct. 8 before facing off with Panama on Oct. 11 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois.
Thursday’s news marks the first time dos Santos will join the Mexican national team since he represented them at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The 27-year-old has over 100 caps with his country during his career, scoring 17 goals for Mexico at the senior level.
Dos Santos leads the Galaxy with 14 goals and 12 assists in 26 games this season. He won’t miss any of LA’s matches while on international duty.
