Minnesota United FC reportedly have more on their minds than just building an MLS roster for 2017.
The club, to enter MLS for the first time next year, are currently putting together a list of potential candidates for their head-coaching position ahead of their inaugural season in MLS next year, according to an ESPN FC article published on Wednesday.
Interviews have allegedly not taken place yet, but some of the candidates that Minnesota United are considering are former Orlando City boss Adrian Heath (pictured above), New England Revolution assistant coach Tom Soehn, and former Seattle Sounders manager Sigi Schmid.
Current Minnesota United head coach Carl Craig is also in consideration to guide the team during its inaugural MLS season, but the club reportedly prefers a manager with previous MLS experience.
Of the three coaches familiar with MLS, Soehn seems to have the closest ties to Minnesota United. Previously head coach at D.C. United and Vancouver Whitecaps, and an assistant in D.C., Chicago and now New England, Soehn's wife grew up in Minnesota.
Heath has a year-and-a-half of MLS experience after guiding Orlando City during their transition to the league from USL. Schmid has a more accomplished and proven resume after coaching the LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew SC, and the Seattle Sounders, becoming the all-time leader in MLS regular season wins to date in his career, and winning 10 major professional titles with MLS teams.
