It didn’t take long for Jeremy Ebobisse to score his first professional goal.
Ebobisse withdrew from Duke University to sign with MLS on Aug. 15 and will be eligible for selection in the 2017 SuperDraft. It was announced on Aug. 26 that the 19-year-old US international would spend the rest of the 2016 season on loan with USL club Charleston Battery, for whom he scored his first professional goal on Wednesday afternoon.
Making his first career start, Ebobisse tied things up for Charleston in the 40th minute of their match against the Montreal Impact's USL club, FC Montreal. The forward collected a ball in the right side of the area, cut in on his left foot and curled a strike into the far corner to level things at 1-1.
The Battery are incoming MLS expansion club Atlanta United FC’s USL affiliate and currently have several Atlanta players on their roster. Atlanta, who will either have the first or second pick in January’s draft, are certainly well-positioned to keep a close eye on Ebobisse while he’s in Charleston.
Another potential prospect for next year’s SuperDraft? UCLA’s Abu Danladi, who scored two goals in 11 seconds in the Bruins’ 6-1 win over Akron on Monday.
