A late Victor Ulloa goal helped FC Dallas earn a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids in a top-of-the-table clash at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night.
Seconds after stepping onto the field, Ulloa leveled for the Western Conference leaders with a screamer from distance in the 82nd minute. The Homegrown midfielder settled an attempted clearance, took a touch and blasted into the top right corner of the net.
Michael Barrios nearly had the late winner for FC Dallas (12-6-5), but Tim Howard kicked away his attempt one minute later, one of his five saves on the night.
Marlon Hairston scored for the second consecutive game to give the Rapids (10-2-8) a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute. The midfielder’s pressure forced a turnover by Atiba Harris, and Hairston attacked the open space and rounded FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz before slotting into the open net.
Howard made sure Colorado maintained the one-goal lead with a tremendous stoppage-time save, getting his left hand on a Walker Zimmerman header at the back post from a corner kick.

Three Things
1. OH THAT GOAL: Victor Ulloa made sure FC Dallas remained atop the league with an absolute blast eight minutes from full time. He settled an attempted clearance and then ripped a shot past the outstretched arms of Tim Howard into the upper right corner of the net. Watch it again. And again. And again.
2. RAPIDS STREAK CONTINUES: While they'll be disappointed not to claim all three points, the Rapids extended their unbeaten streak to 15 games with the draw. Another silver lining is that they remain three points behind FC Dallas with three games in hand.
3. FAMILIAR SCORELINE: The 1-1 draw was the third consecutive game between the teams with that scoreline. They played to a 1-1 tie on April 24, 2015, in Commerce City and also shared the points two months later with Fabian Castillo and Dillon Serna scoring.
