Oscar Pareja and the FC Dallas family were dealt a blow on Thursday, when the club announced that Pareja’s mother, Martha, passed away in Colombia.
An FC Dallas spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com that Pareja traveled from Dallas to Colombia to be with his family on Thursday, but will fly to Portland to rejoin the team on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s Western Conference Championship Series first leg at the Timbers (7:30 pm ET; FS1 and Fox Deportes in the US, TSN5 in Canada).
He is expected to be on the bench for Sunday's match at Providence Park.
FCD are scheduled to travel from Texas to Portland on Friday afternoon.
