Liverpool is likely coming to the United States next summer, and Steven Gerrard could go up against his former club with his new one.
Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has said that the club will travel to the United States for a preseason tour in summer 2016. If the English Premier League outfit do pay a visit, there is a chance that they could play a friendly against Gerrard and the LA Galaxy.
Ayre, however, wants to first talk to Gerrard to gauge his interest in playing vs. Liverpool.
"Absolutely, that's something we have on our radar of ideas," Ayre told the BBC. "Steven is back in Liverpool at the moment and I'm sure we'll get a chance to catch up and see what he thinks about that as an idea. It's brilliant we have Steven in the US market, he's been such a great servant to Liverpool and for him to be here — hopefully telling people how great the club is, if they don’t already know. That can only be good for us."
Gerrard signed with the Galaxy as a Designated Player last January, but joined the club at midseason after finishing up the 2014-15 Premier League campaign. Prior to his move to Los Angeles, the 35-year-old midfielder spent all of his career with Liverpool, appearing in more than 500 games and becoming a Reds legend in the process.
There were reports a few weeks back that Gerrard could train with Liverpool this offseason, and the Galaxy confirmed that was a possibility while also ruling out any chance of a potential winter loan.
Gerrard started in the 13 matches he played in for the Galaxy during the regular season, scoring two goals and assisting on three others.
