Shay Facey went on loan to New York City FC this season in order to get minutes and develop. Clearly, his parent club is pleased with the job he has done.
Facey signed a new deal with Manchester City on Monday, extending his stay at the club that he has been a part of for 11 years. The 20-year-old Facey agreed to a new contract after spending the past year on loan at Man City's sister club NYCFC, who gave him a good run of games.
He amassed 23 league appearances for the expansion MLS outfit, and started in 20 of those while taking turns playing at right back and center back.
What this new deal means for Facey and New York City FC is unclear. Manchester City could opt to keep Facey in England during the upcoming and loan him back out to NYCFC for the 2016 MLS campaign, or could just keep him on their books and use him during the remaining six months of the Premiership season.
If Facey does return to New York City, he would play under a new head coach in Patrick Vieira.
