The 2015 regular season is coming to a close, but there is still a lot to play for on #DecisionDay. While several teams vie for a berth to the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs, you could punch your own ticket to an MLS Cup VIP Experience on DraftKings.
Draft the winning lineup and you’ll win two tickets to the 2015 MLS Cup, $1,000 airfare credit, hotel accommodations for two, $500 cash for meals and ground transportation, and a DraftKings Swag Bag.
Be sure to follow @MLSFantasy on Twitter for #DecisionDay updates on starting lineups, strategy and tips. Also be sure to tune in to the Periscope chat hosted by ESPN Analyst Taylor Twellman earlier Sunday.
Now, let’s take a look at some players who could help you climb to the top of the leaderboard.
Goalkeepers
Obvious Pick:Adam Kwarasey ($5,800) and the Timbers can clinch a playoff spot with a win or tie against Colorado. Having won three of their last four, Kwarasey is a safe pick at GK.
Budget Pick: With usual starter Tally Hall recovering from surgery, Josh Ford ($3,000) will start for Orlando City SC. He’s a true bargain-bin pick that will free up some funds to spend elsewhere.
Sleeper Pick:David Bingham ($4,200) has two clean sheets in his last three games and will need to put in another strong shift to keep the Earthquakes’ playoff hopes alive.
Defenders
Obvious Pick: Same player, different week. Chris Tierney ($6,700) has five or more crosses in four straight games. There is enough value on the board to squeeze Tierney into your lineups.
Budget Pick:Brek Shea ($4,400) returns from suspension and has three assists in his last four games.
Sleeper Pick:Kendall Waston ($3,700) has a combined eight shots -- five on goal -- in the Whitecaps' last three games. He looks hungry for a goal and has a favorable matchup at home against the Houston Dynamo.
Midfielders
Obvious Pick:Mauro Diaz ($9,900) has a combined 1 goal, 2 assists, 11 crosses, 10 fouls drawn and 47 points in his last two games. Dallas are still in contention to win the Supporters’ Shield, so Diaz should come out with guns blazing.
Budget Pick:Rodney Wallace ($5,000) had the game-winning assist against the Galaxy and gives you exposure to a Timbers attack that could put on another show against Colorado.
Sleeper Pick: With both Kei Kamara and Federico Higuain suspended, I’m looking at Justin Meram ($6,700) to have a bigger role in the Crew SC attack.
Forwards
Obvious Pick:Didier Drogba ($10,800) has been a game-changer since joining the Impact. The Chelsea legend has seven goals and an eye-popping 122 points in his last four home games.
Budget Pick:Carlos Rivas ($5,600) swung in a whopping 13 crosses last Saturday against New York City. Orlando City will be attacking from the get-go and I expect Rivas to play a role.
Sleeper Pick: With the masses flocking to Fanendo Adi ($9,500), Timbers strike partner Lucas Melano ($6,700) could be a sneaky differential pick at nearly $3K less.
