A 13-year career littered with trophies will come to an end in a matter of months, as Todd Dunivant is set retire at season's end.
The LA Galaxy announced on Wednesday that Dunivant, 34, intends to hang up his cleats for good at the conclusion of the club's 2015 campaign, marking the end of one of the more accomplished careers in MLS history.
“I have given this game all that I can and will step away extremely thankful to have played in MLS for the last 13 seasons,” said Dunivant in a statement. “It has been an honor to represent four great clubs and is extremely special for me be a part of this league as it has continued to develop. I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates and fans, who have offered their constant support and helped make my career a successful one.
“The Galaxy have played such a meaningful role during my time in MLS and I am happy to finish this season while representing this club.”
Dunivant has won five MLS Cup trophies to date, the first with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2003 and the four since with the Galaxy, as well as a US Open Cup title. The veteran left back has also helped claim a pair of Supporters' Shields, three Western Conference Championships, and was named to the MLS Best XI back in 2011.
He's spent his entire career in MLS, playing mostly for LA but also having stints with the Earthquakes, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC. Dunivant has made a combined 269 starts in 282 league appearances to this point, scoring seven goals and assisting on 21 others.
The 6-foot defender was a winner immediately upon arriving in MLS from Stanford University. Selected by San Jose with the sixth pick in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, he started in each of the club's 30 games that year en route to capturing an MLS Cup title.

Dunivant joined the Galaxy for his first stint there in 2005, and rejoined the club in 2009. He was an integral part of the 2011 and 2012 teams that lifted the MLS Cup trophy, and also helped LA win the league's ultimate prize for a record fifth time last year.
This season, Dunivant has provided veteran leadership to the Galaxy while contributing with one start in three appearances. He and his teammates will look to round out his trophy case with a sixth MLS Cup winner's medal this fall.
