Kelyn Rowe has had a good few days.
The New England Revolution midfielder ditched a man-bun look last week, powered the New England Revolution to their first victory of the season with two goals over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday and earned a little love from the soccer media on Tuesday, winning the MLS Player of the Week award.
The North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) voted Rowe the Player of the Week for Week 4 after his brace in the Revs 2-1 win over San Jose at Gillette Stadium. The two tallies marked Rowe's second career multi-goal game and were New England's first goals of the 2015 season.
The attacker got New England on the board in the 21st minute on Saturday, collecting a Lee Nguyen pass just outside the area and rifling a shot off of Quakes defender Shaun Francis and into the back of the net to give the Revs a 1-0 lead (WATCH).
Rowe scored the game-winner in the 37th, alertly latching on to a loose ball in the box and tapping home after a Darrius Barnes header off a Chris Tierney set piece (WATCH).
- Goal of the Week: Who will take home the Week 4 honors?
Rowe and the Revs will look for their second-straight win on Saturday, when they’ll travel west to take on the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (7 pm ET, MLS Live).
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
