USMNT Jurgen Klinsmann named 22 MLS players to the 28-man roster for the annual January camp which kicks off in Carson, California from Jan 12 to Feb. 8.
The group is a combination of World Cup veterans -- like Clint Dempsey, Jermaine Jones and Michael Bradley -- and younger players, including 12 Olympic-age players who would be eligible to play for the US Olympic team in 2016.
Syracuse goalkeeper and freshly-signed member of the 2015 MLS Generation adidas class Alex Bono highlights a number of surprising inclusions by Klinsmann. Some of the other newer names include D.C. United center back Steve Birnbaum, Vancouver Whitecaps defender Christian Dean, LA Galaxy right back Oscar Sorto, Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Serna, Columbus Crew midfielder Wil Trapp and FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele, who is also eligible to play for Canada.
After 12 days in California, the team will head to Santiago, Chile from Jan. 25-29 for more training and the first friendly of the year against Chile on Jan. 28. After returning to California, the nearly month-long camp wraps up with a friendly against Panama on Feb. 8 in Carson (4 pm ET, ESPN, UniMas and UDN).
