KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Sporting Kansas City defender Aurelien Collin was named the Volkswagen MLS Cup MVP after he scored the equalizer, then netted an inch-perfect penalty in the shootout to help Sporting top Real Salt Lake 7-6 from the spot after a 1-1 draw at Sporting Park.
The Frenchman's towering header in the 76th minute canceled out Alvaro Saborio's opener, and he put his penalty in the shootout just beyond the fingertips of RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando in sudden death.
