Is it really possible that Michael Gspurning hadn’t won a Save of the Week award this season all the way into September?
The Seattle Sounders goalkeeper put an end to that run in style this week, garnering nearly 40 percent of the vote to easily win the award for Week 27 for his breakaway save on the Columbus Crew’s Dominic Oduro last Saturday. Seattle went on to win the game, 1-0.
Houston veteran Tally Hall finished in second place (24 percent) for his lunging save on a late header on Chicago’s Jalil Anibaba to preserve the Dynamo’s 1-1 road draw last Sunday.
Week 27 results:
1. Michael Gspurning (SEA): 39.37%
2. Tally Hall (HOU): 24.48%
3. Jimmy Nielsen (SKC): 21.0%
4. Joe Bendik (TOR): 12.26%
