In the battle of two bicycle kicks up for the AT&T Goal of the Week, fans have pushed Javier Morales across the finish line first.
The Real Salt Lake playmaker earned more than 48 percent of the vote for the Week 27 award, nearly doubling the final total of runner-up Erick Torres from Chivas USA (26).
Morales made the most of a rough first touch on a Joao Plata corner kick during RSL’s match against Portland last Friday, pivoting and firing an overhead bicycle kick off the far post for the standout goal of RSL’s emphatic 4-2 win over the Timbers.
Torres followed with a bicycle kick of his own in a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps, but fans rallied about the Morales strike to give him his third win this year, following awards in Weeks 8 and 20.
