With the summer transfer window opening in a matter of weeks, another MLS team made a move to increase roster flexibility this week.
D.C. United announced Friday that they have terminated the contract of Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto. In a statement released by the club, the decision was a mutual one.
“We would like to thank Raphael for his time at D.C. United, and we wish him all the best in the future,” said D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper in the club's statement.
Augusto, 22, was obtained by United last July on loan from Brazilian side Fluminense. He made his competitve debut for D.C. during the Eastern Conference Championship last year against the Houston Dynamo. This season, he made seven league appearances, including five starts. His last appearance for the team was a second half substitute stint May 25 in United's 2-0 loss to the Portland Timbers.
