Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando lumped the ball forward, Joao Plata took it down and whipped it into a dangerous area and Luis Gil managed to outrun the 'Caps defense and nod it in off the post despite absorbing a hefty blow from Joe Cannon.
Gil also managed to capture AT&T Goal of the Week honors for Week 10, as the young midfielder recieved nearly 38 percent of the fan vote to run away from second-place finisher Justin Mapp of the Montreal Impact.
Gil's headed finish was his second goal of the 2013 campaign, tying a career high after just 11 games, as RSL brushed off Vancouver 2-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium. Rounding out the top five were the Dynamo's Andrew Driver, the Union's Danny Cruz and Sporting KC's C.J. Sapong.
Gil is the second RSL player to earn the honor this season after midfielder Javier Morales took home the AT&T Goal of the Week award for Week 8.
