Thierry Henry reprised a famliar role this past weekend by playing hero for the New York Red Bulls, and his clinical winner late in the club's 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union claimed the Goal of the Week award for Week 5 as a result.
Battling a left MCL sprain, Henry helped give the Red Bulls their first taste of victory this season when he came off the bench to beat Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath with a smooth, left-footed strike in the 81st minute. Henry exploited the space between Philadelphia center backs Amobi Okugo and Jeff Parke, bringing down Peguy Luyindula's lobbed ball with his thigh before turning and shooting in one fluid motion.
The Red Bulls' star forward earned 32 percent of the votes, fending off a late charge from Jose Villarreal's acrobatic equalizer in the LA Galaxy's 2-2 draw with Toronto FC.
