Houston knew a win in their final game against LA would save them the hassle of playing a wild card game.
Adam Moffat obviously wasn’t keen to take that route and did something about it, emphatically rifling in from 40 yards into the top right corner to win the AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 32. The strike left Donovan Ricketts rooted to the spot as the Scotsman’s effort in the 26th minute set the Dynamo on their way to a 3-1 win, sealing second place in the Eastern Conference in the process.
The long-range blast in the season finale received 40 percent of votes in the final Goal of the Week competition. The midseason signing from Portland had competition from Seattle’s Sammy Ochoa and RSL’s Álvaro Saborío whose strike earned 22 percent and 23 percent of the votes respectively. Houston have a knack of scoring spectacular goals, as this marked their second straight Goal of the Week — Danny Cruz won the honors in Week 31 for his hammer against Portland.
Moffat's goal was also his second Goal of the Week this season, winning it back in Week 11, also against the Timbers.
Houston boss Dominic Kinnear will be hoping his side’s run of sensational strikes run into the postseason as Houston match up against the Philadelphia Union in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
