A moment of brilliance--and an unlikely homage to his teammate Thierry Henry--has earned young New York striker Juan Agudelo the AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 6. It is his second AT&T Goak of the Week this year, as voted by MLS fans on MLSsoccer.com and through text voting.
The goal was the capper on the Red Bulls' 4-0 win over D.C. United last weekend, but the score was ultimately irrelevant. What matter was the skill and grace displayed by the teenaged striker. Running into the box with two defenders on him, Agudelo stretched for a low cross that arrived slightly behind him. He flicked the ball up into the air and in one motion spun to slam a right-footed volley past United 'keeper Bill Hamid into the back of the net.
Immediately, the soccer world started making comparisons between Agudelo's goal to a similar one scored by Henry in 2000, when the then-Arsenal striker struck a sweet volley against Manchester United.
- Juan Agudelo, New York Red Bulls 65%
- Chad Barrett, LA Galaxy 12%
- Landon Donovan, LA Galaxy 11%
- Rajko Lekic, New England Revolution 7%
- Marko Perovic, New England Revolution 5%
