Last Saturday wasn't the first time Columbus Crew midfielder Eddie Gaven found himself in goal. But after 'keeper William Hesmer went down with an injury, Gaven was called upon to keep his team in the lead. He did so, and earned himself Week 30 NAPA Save of the Week honors along the way.
Gaven's remarkable diving save on Philadelphia's Shea Salinas kept Columbus' lead at 3-1 in the 88th minute. It was Gaven's first Save of the Week honor, and the second time in as many weeks that a midfielder has earned the award.
Gaven won the vote with 37 percent, edging out Chivas USA's Kevin Guppy at 32 percent.
