Fire rookie goalkeeper Sean Johnson has won his third NAPA Save of the Week award this season, thanks to a lunging dive that kept Houston’s Brian Mullan out during the Dynamo’s wild 4-3 win over Chicago. Johnson – who took over between the posts in Chicago less than a month ago – can now add Matchday 21 to his growing list of SOTW awards that also include Weeks 18 and 19.
Johnson earned roughly 70 percent of the vote this time around, comfortably topping an impressive stop from San Jose veteran Jon Busch on a Landon Donovan volley during the Quakes’ 1-0 win over the Galaxy. Busch received nearly 20 percent of the vote, and Toronto’s Stefan Frei, FC Dallas’ Kevin Hartman and Chivas USA’s Zach Thornton rounded out the field.
1. Sean Johnson, 70.11%
2. Jon Busch, 19.56%
3. Stefan Frei, 4.8%
4. Kevin Hartman, 3.8%
5. Zach Thornton, 1.73%
