Charlotte FC acquired Ivory Coast defender Souleyman Doumbia on loan from Belgian side Standard Liège on March 12, 2025.

Doumbia began his spell in Ligue 1 in the 2018/19 season, joining Stade Rennais FC for the club’s Coupe de France winning campaign. He featured a total of 11 times in all competitions, including matches in the UEFA Europa League, before transferring to Angers SCO. Doumbia appeared in 87 matches and contributed three assists over a three-and-a-half-year stint. His final spell before joining The Crown saw Doumbia play in 22 matches in Belgium after joining Liège ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The defender began his career with Paris Saint-Germain's Academy, making his jump to professional soccer in the 2016/17 season when he joined Serie B club SSC Bari. Doumbia then made a move to Switzerland to play for Grasshoppers Club Zurich, where he was teammates with CLTFC midfielder Djibril Diani.

On the international level, Doumbia appeared multiple times for the youth squads of the Ivory Coast before making his senior debut in June 2019. He has since made eight appearances and was teammates with CLTFC forward Wilfried Zaha at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
