Career Summary

A dynamic forward with an eye for goal, Simon Becher was selected 16th overall by Whitecaps FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft and was signed to the club's MLS NEXT Pro side Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2).

In November 2022, Becher signed an MLS contract with the 'Caps first team through 2023, with club options for 2024, 2025, and 2026.

'23: In his first full season with the first team, Becher finished third on the team in goals with seven across all competitions as he made six starts and 25 appearances in 2023. The striker started the season with a bang, scoring four goals in his first three appearances of the year to become the first player in the club’s MLS era to score five goals in their first four appearances. His second goal of the season was a last-gasp equalizer at Minnesota United FC on March 25, which saw him named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 5. The following week against CF Montréal, Becher notched his third and fourth goals of the season, along with an assist, as the ‘Caps claimed a 5-0 victory over their Canadian rivals. Not only was Becher named to the MLS Team of the Matchday, he was also named the MLS Player of the Matchday for Matchday 6, as he became the fastest player in league history to score his first four MLS goals, doing so in just 87 minutes of action. Becher also played a key role in the ‘Caps Canadian Championship triumph, scoring key goals at York United FC in the quarterfinal and at Pacific FC in the semifinal. 

'22: Becher was selected 16th overall by Whitecaps FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft and was signed to the club’s MLS NEXT Pro side Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2), where he led the team in scoring with eight goals. The native of Brooklyn, Connecticut started 20 of his 22 appearances during the team’s regular season, while also recording four assists. In addition, Becher received two MLS short-term call-ups to the Whitecaps FC first team, becoming the first WFC2 MLS NEXT Pro player to score an MLS goal on August 5 against Houston Dynamo FC in his first team debut. Becher also spent the 2022 preseason camp with the first team in California.
