Houston Dynamo sign defender Obafemi Awodesu
TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing Houston Dynamo FC have signed defender Obafemi Awodesu to a first-team contract, the club announced Friday.
Awodesu signed a first team contract in January 2025 following an impressive debut season with Houston Dynamo 2 in 2024, where he started all 29 of his appearances, including one postseason match, and tied for most regular season minutes across the league (2,520 minutes). He helped Dynamo 2 to its third consecutive postseason appearance as a key contributor along the backline, while leading the team with 1,489 passes completed and 41 clearances during the regular season.
The Philadelphia native was also rostered in the opening 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup match versus St. Louis CITY SC and during last season’s Opening Weekend against Sporting Kansas City.
Latest transaction: Signed to a first team contract through the 2025 season with club options in 2026 and 2027.
