MLS Experience

2010: Appeared in 15 games, making 3 starts and recording 3 assists. Earned U.S. Open Cup Player of the Round honors for the quarterfinal and semifinal and named Player of the Tournament. Scored lone goal at POR (6/30) and followed it up with 2 goals vs. LA (7/7). Ended the tournament as co-leader with 5 goals in 4 games. Placed on the club’s Disabled List (3/25) and missed several matches due to abdominal fascial repair surgery (4/7). Made season debut at PHI (6/27). Made first start vs. DAL (7/11). Made 27 appearances with 6 starts in all competitions, scoring 6 goals with 4 assists, including 1 goal and 1 assist in CONCACAF Champions League play.

2009: Posted regular season career highs in goals (9), assists (7), games started (27) and minutes played (2278). Finished tied for ninth in assists. Named MLS Player of the Week after scoring two goals and an assist vs. COL (6/28). Earned MLS Goal of the Week three times. Finished May with four straight games with either goal or an assist. Appeared in 30 games total for Seattle, starting 28, including all 210 minutes in both playoff games vs. HOU (10/29, 11/8). Oringinally positioned up front but made final five starts on right flank. Started and played each minute in three of four U.S. Open Cup appearances, and scored game-tying goal in 89th minute of semifinal vs. HOU (7/21).

2008: Re-signed with Houston (7/15) and produced four goals and four assists in 14 games at forward during the second half of the season. In the playoffs, started first leg at New York (11/1) and came on as a substitute in second leg vs. New York (11/9). Scored first Dynamo goal of the year in the SuperLiga championship, giving Houston a 1-0 lead. Played 90 minutes in each of the Dynamo's first three Champions League games.

2007: Traded to Houston mid-season from Los Angeles and netted six goals and added two assists in 15 league games for Houston. Scored the game-winning goals in Houston’s SuperLiga win over Club América and in the Western Conference final against Kansas City, while helping Houston to its second consecutive MLS Cup title.

2006: Notched a career-high eight goals in 28 games while adding two assists in third and final season with Chicago. Set career-highs in games played (28), games started (22), minutes played (2,037) and shots (48).

2005: Started 15 of 18 MLS contests played, scoring seven goals and three assists in 1,361 minutes for Chicago. Missed 13 games to injury, but still finished in top three on the Fire with seven goals (2nd), 24 shots on goal (2nd) and 45 shots (3rd). Scored his first goal of the season against the New York MetroStars (4/22) at Giants Stadium with his tally standing as the game-winner in a 1-0 win that broke a nearly one-year road winless streak for the Fire. Registered the first hat trick of MLS career against Chivas USA (6/4) in a 5-2 Fire win. Earned Honda MLS Player of the Month honor for June after scoring six total goals and one assist.

2004: Switched between the forward and midfield positions in his 26 games (21 starts), scoring four goals and four assists for Chicago. Four goals tied for the second most on the Fire and four assists tied for third on the squad. Appeared in all four of the Fire's CONCACAF Champions Cup contests, making three starts. In the only game that he didn't start, came on as a second half sub vs. Saprissa (3/21) and recorded the game-winning assist on Jim Curtin's 86th minute score in the return leg of the Champions Cup Semifinals. 2003: Signed a Project 40 contract with MLS, and entered the

2003: MLS SuperDraft, where he was selected third overall by Chicago. Played in 20 games as a rookie, making five starts, registering two goals and two assists. Scored first-career MLS goal against Los Angeles (9/13).

Other Professional Experience

2008: Signed four month contract with Austrian side SC Rheindorf Altach (1/28). Played in 13 games and scored five goals before returning to MLS.

International Experience

Played for the U-18, U- 20 and U-23 U.S. National Teams, and has three caps for the senior squad. Made U.S. National Team debut in 5-0 win over Norway on January 29, 2006, at The Home Depot Center, coming on as a substitute in the 67th minute. Started and played the first half of United States win over Denmark on January 20, 2007, at The Home Depot Center. Third international appearance came in 2-0 loss to England at Wembley Stadium on May 28, 2008.

College

Finished 10th in total points (80), tied for 13th in goals (29), and 10th in assists (22). Led the Pilots in scoring in each of his three seasons. All-America in final two seasons, as sophomore and junior and three-time All-West Coast Confer­ence first team and also WCC All-Academic selection Scored Portland's only goals in 2001 NCAA playoff wins over Gonzaga and Washington. WCC Freshman of the Year in 2000.

High School/Club

Lettered four years at South Eugene High School. Two-time Parade All-American selection. Twice named Oregon 4A Player of the Year after scoring 30 goals as a junior and 21 goals and 20 assists as a senior. Team won three Midwestern League titles and the Oregon 4A state championship in 1998.

Personal

Grew up on a cattle ranch on the McKenzie River. If he could be a professional athlete in another sport, he would be an Olympic skier. Favorite soccer memory is winning the MLS Cup in 2007 with Houston. Brother, Josh, played soccer at New Mexico and aside Nate at Portland.
