Michael Videira

Michael Videira proved invaluable in his second season with the Fire, adding depth in both midfield and along the backline. Now with two seasons in Chicago under his belt, the experienced, former Hamilton Academical player will push for more minutes heading into the 2013 campaign.

2012: Appeared in three matches, logging 40 minutes. LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP: Appeared in one match, starting in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Michigan Bucks 5/29 …INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES: Entered the match in the 68th minute in a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa 7/14…Started and scored in a 2-2 draw with Liga MX side Club Santos Laguna 9/8 …MLS RESERVE LEAGUE: Was the only Fire player to play every minute of the 2012 Reserve season…Tallied one assist, setting up Orr Barouch’s goal in the 79th minute in a 3-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City 5/13

2011: Appeared in nine matches, starting seven while logging 493 minutes… Tallied one assist, helping on Gaston Puerari’s 40th minute strike in a 3-2 win 3/26 vs. SKC…LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP: Appeared in two matches, going the distance in both in the club’s run to the 2011 U.S. Open Cup final…INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES: Came on as a sub in both matches, logging 47 minutes. Came on in the 88th minute in a 3-1 loss 7/23 vs. Manchester United and as a halftime substitute in a 1-0 loss 9/14 vs. Chivas de Guadalajara.

2010: Signed midseason with USSF Division 2 side AC St. Louis, playing eight matches.

2009-10: Signed with the New England Revolution ahead of the 2009 MLS Regular Season…made his professional debut on 4/25 at Real Salt Lake…Made his first start on 5/3 in a 2-2 draw with Houston…Played his first full 90 minutes on 7/4 in a 1-0 loss at Los Angeles… Played one match on loan with USL-2 side Western Mass Pioneers, scoring a goal…Was released by New England on July 26, 2010.

2008: Selected in the 2nd Round (18th overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, but elected to sign with Hamilton Academical of the Scottish Premier League, where after a string of injuries, he failed to make a first team appearance and was released from his contract in December 2008.
