Medhi Lacen

CURRENT CLUB: Getafe (Spain)

A defensive midfielder at heart, Medhi Lacen is a smart player who works extremely hard. One of three left-footed midfielders for Algeria, he prefers to distribute the ball and does not wander much into the offensive half.

ALGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM

Initially capped in 2006, Lacen played all three matches at the 2010 World Cup alongside Hassan Yebda in midfield.

CLUB CAREER

Born in France of an Italian mother and Algerian father, Lacen left France and found a home in Spain. After three years at Alaves, Lacen moved to Racing Santander, where he notched 100 league appearances in Spain’s La Liga.

In 2011, he joined Getafe but he has struggled to get on the field due to injuries.
