Columbus Crew sign Max Arfsten to contract extensionÂ
TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension The Columbus Crew have signed midfielder Max Arfsten to a multi-year contract extension, the club announced Wednesday.

Columbus (2023): Max Arfsten made 12 appearances, including three starts, for the Columbus Crew in his rookie season, tallying two goals and assists. Arfsten was selected 14th in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by the Crew. He made his MLS debut against Atlanta United (March 25), scoring his first career MLS goal in the 6-1 victory. Arfsten collected his first assist the next match against Real Salt Lake (April 1). The forward earned starts in the Crew’s U.S. Open Cup matches against Indy Eleven, Loudoun United, and Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The native of Fresno, California made his first MLS start against Charlotte FC (June 3), scoring one goal and assist in the match. He made his MLS playoffs debut against Atlanta United in game 2 of the opening round, scoring his first career playoff goal in the match (November 7).
San Jose Earthquakes II (2022): Arfsten joined the MLS Next Pro side ahead of the inaugural season after leaving college early. He would appear in 24 matches with the club, scoring nine goals.
University of California, Davis (2019-21): Arfsten appeared in 39 matches for UC Davis, scoring nine goals with eight assists in his college career. He was named to the Big West Conference All-Freshman Team in 2019.
